Guiding Principles of Membership
Los Cantantes del Lago is
a community choir in which everyone is welcome.
The success of Los
Cantantes del Lago depends on our working together as a team, both musically and
as an organization.
a) New members are
encouraged to be musically literate, able to read rhythmical and musical
notation.
b) Current and new members
are encouraged to continually strive to improve their musical skills through
rhythmic and note training in order to become more literate musicians. They are
also encouraged to improve their vocal skills, always striving for musical
excellence.
Members may not miss
more than two rehearsals during a concert season. All absences should be
discussed with the Music Director.
Members of Los
Cantantes do not pay membership dues. There are, however, some obligations
attached to membership.
- Members pay for
concert sheet music as well as MP3 files of rehearsal music (to be
downloaded from the website) prior to the first rehearsal of
each concert season. This payment covers the Music Director's time for the
selection and marking of music and recording the rehearsal music for each
section. It also covers the cost of purchasing music and copying a set for each
member.
- Each member will have
the proper concert attire. There will be some charges associated with the
purchase of garments.
- Each member is
expected to sell tickets to each concert or event sponsored by Los Cantantes
del Lago.
- Each member will
assist with set-up and tear-down of Cantantes events.
- Everyone will lend a
hand within the organization to assist with whatever work needs to be done.
